Senior Tax Analyst

Reporting Relationships

As part of Potentia’s Finance team, this position reports to Director of Taxation and Treasury and will support the tax function of the Finance team.

Accountabilities and Key Functions

 As the Senior Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for the Canadian tax compliance function and assist with US/other foreign tax compliance. You will prepare Canadian corporate tax returns and will also assist with tax audits/disputes. You will also be responsible for preparing tax provision calculations for quarterly and year-end financial reporting. In addition, you will have the opportunity to assist in tax planning/restructuring and transaction projects.

Key Functions include: 

  • Prepare and file Canadian income and information tax returns, including T2, T5013, T1134, T106 and election forms and ensure tax payments are made in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinate and assist with the US and other non-Canadian tax compliance of foreign affiliates within the group
  • Prepare and assist with quarterly and annual income tax provision and true-up under IFRS and prepare tax related journal entries
  • Assist with administration and resolution of income and indirect tax (such as GST/HST, PST, etc) inquiries and audits from the federal and provincial tax authorities, including analytical support, collection of information and preparation of responses
  • Completes all tax reporting requirements (such as Country-by-Country report, U.S. BEAT reporting, etc.) to the Parent’s Tax Team

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree in accounting, finance or equivalent degree
  • CPA, CA/CGA/ CMA professional accounting designation
  • Completion or near completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Course preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of Corporate Tax experience including corporate tax provision
  • Relevant tax experience at major public accounting firm is preferred
