Potentia Renewables Inc., and Cisneros have created a joint venture to develop renewable energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Together the companies aim to invest in renewable energy infrastructure with a central focus on solar and wind energy assets.

Cisneros is an international corporation with more than 9 decades of experience in media & entertainment, digital advertising solutions, real estate and social leadership. Cisneros is made up of 4 divisions: Media, Digital content, Real Estate and Fundación Cisneros, and has a proven record of successful business, creating relationships with partners in key areas worldwide.

  • Location: 3 km away from Canoa, in the province of Barahona.
  • Project description: The project is planned to be built in 2 phases of 25 MWac each, reaching a total installed capacity of 50 MWac.
  • Area: 4305564.17 square feet or 98.84 acres (400.000 square meters)It is estimated that it will use more than 88.000 Jinko solar panels.
  • Annual production: exceeding 50.000 MWh, which is sufficient to power approximately 10,000 Dominican households.
  • Estimated CO2 emission savings: 37.000 tonnes
  • Employment opportunities: approximately 170-200 direct employees during construction
    • It will provide between 25 and 30 permanent local jobs for Operation and Maintenance.
  • Estimated investment: 40 Million US$

On March 6, 2018, Danilo Medina, the president of the Dominican Republic, along with members of his government, legislators, local authorities and executives of Potentia Renewables and its investment partner, Cisneros, have celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony of the Canoa Solar Park.
